2 House of Baka in St. Petersburg

House of Baka in St. Petersburg

This one is pretty nice and unique piece of architecture from St. Petersburg, Russia. It is called “The House of Baka” or “house designed and built for the engineer of transport Mr. Bak”, and is dated back to 1904-1905. It has those weird bridges inside the backyard. See more inside, thanks to Shardapa who has made those photos.

To get it all in one photo from inside of the yard Shadrapa had to take 64 and 72 separate shots and combine them in a panoramic shot.

This house is a centerpiece in many guided tours across St. Petersburg as it is highly unusual and eye catching.  Also many contemporary rich people of Russia from different times  lived there – oil businessmen, lawyers, actors and writers.

Those bridges help to get into the distant parts of the apartment complex from one single lobby and entrance.

Still the vandals have spoiled it inside too.

Also the windows were decorated by unique vintage stained-glass.

Hope you liked this building and great thanks to Shardpaa for the photos! Here is his site below:

Great architecture, but not enough light.

I’ve been to the place, its away from the usual tourist attractions, so no crowd there. Really cool.
