Army Scout Vehicle as a Taxi in St. Petersburg

St. Petersburg, Russia: Now you can get a taxi ride on a BRDM vehicle, that can go on the water as easy as it goes on the paved road. No joke – a company has fully certified some of the BRDM’s for be used as city taxis. One of the good sides of this – you not always need a road to make a shortcut to your destination. Let’s see bit more inside:

The drivers are regular Taxi drivers. The color is Pink. Why pink? “So that not to scare civilians in the city, messing us with some army we painted them pink.”, they say, some come in Red some in Pink.

For the city which has lots of small channels and rivers and tens of bridges this always might be a time saver! You can see the city Taxi badge on the side of the vehicle.

The slogan is simple “a Safer Taxi” meaning that even if you get into an accident the armored vehicle is hard to be smashed.

Looks like its getting more popular and the passengers often ask for a photo with the vehicle they just took a ride in.

Here are a few instagrams of the customers:

Sometimes those get out of order and needed to be towed too though. It’s good if this doesn’t happen inside the river.

with gun still installed? seems foolish even if it is fake.

Petersburg has needed these for some time! During the summer months when the drawbridges are raised it is nearly impossible to get from one island to another! These amphibious vehicles get the job done!

However I imagine they cost a bit more than the typical Russian ‘Taxi’!
