Largest Soviet Toy Store

Posted on May 21, 2014 by tim

“Detskiy Mir” – “Children’s World” – was a network of Soviet toy stores. The chain’s largest flagship store was located at Lubyanka square. The same square where the flagship KGB building was and still is. What an irony. So here are some photos from inside the place a lot of Soviet kids were eager to get into as it was probably the best stocked store in town.

Hey Weerasinghe Mka, how many millions of American citizens has the American government starved to death with their numerous “purges”?

Must be sad to not be able to admit the truth.

The only reason America sucks now, is because the leftist (communist/marxist/socialist) have been running the show since about the end of WWII.

  2. Peter Thompson says:

With due respect to Ciprian Marius and W. Mka, I can’t see that their comments are relevant to this toy store. We are dealing with a piece of history here, not trying to judge it surely?
Can’t see what the US has got to do with this toy store [or anything else for that matter :) ]

  3. Lucy says:

I agree with Peter Thompson. This is not the place for political comments; just enjoy the photos and history.

  4. Steamed McQueen says:

In Soviet Russia toys play with you!

Toy store inside Lubyanka… That couldn’t have been an accident. Perhaps all those wonderful dolls had hidden microphones inside to hear what was going on in the homes.

  5. Apostolos says:

    This is cuteness overload!
The expression on the faces of little girls, the one holding the bunny, the one trying new shoes, the playground with the little chairs and tables, the toy doll inside the cardboard box,the vending machines with the 50s era fallout 3 vaultboy look-alike label on them…nostalgia.

  6. Iron Legend says:

A toy store devoid of children. How Soviet.
