“Dead City”, “scary place where will be never more people”, “the city where it is better not to stay for a night ” – the most often spoken characteristics of Pripyat. Most of the photo-stories about Pripyat are filled with these phrases. After similar stories a tourist who visited the city will sit in a bus thinking what an awful place he has just visited.

But this photos will tell you about another Pripyat, good and beautiful. It was a city for young people, and this atmosphere has remained there forever. It will be in Pripyat until its last day, until the last building collapses and the city finally turns back into forest.

A passenger river dock.

Automatic vending machines for carbonated water with raspberry syrup, the cost of one glass was 3 kopeika (0.03 Ruble)

A pier.

Cafeteria is near the pier.

I wonder if there’s still mail in that old postbox?

  2. John says:

I always find images from this place to be very eerie. Fantastic work!

  3. George says:

I wonder how much of that radioactive copper they’re stealing has made it into the recycling system?

    • Hugh Crawford says:

Nice try at spreading nonsense, but there isn’t any radioactive copper… and there never was. There could have been, but I doubt even in Pripyat they would have used the isotopes for wiring the city. Even if they had, the longest half-life was only about 62 hours, so it wouldn’t matter much nowadays.

As I was here I may say that person should measure radiation level next time as in the Shooting range it was very very high.
