His. Russia is a train nation. Historically, the road network was very bad. This goes back many centuries. Air transport is popular but more expensive. Trains on the other hand, are affordable, comfortable (if you purchase individual room) and almost always on time, but can be pretty slow. In USA it’s the reverse: roads are very good, and while the rail network is very extensive, the passenger service is too expensive and not very dependable.
