Chernobyl 2: The Military Unit of the Exclusion Zone

Posted on November 18, 2013 by team

When we speak about Chernobyl-2, we usually mean the radar station “Duga”. In fact it’s the object that makes this area different from the others in the exclusion zone. It’s a huge construction, its antennas are visible almost from any point of the zone. “Duga” had been closed for visitors for a long period of time but since October 2013 anyone has been able to come there. Nevertheless Chernobyl-2 is not only “Duga” radar station, it’s also the territory of the former military unit with a dwelling sector for the staff. It’s the very object you’re going to see after the jump.

“Show your pass.”

“Radio centre of distance communication”.

“Make sure it is your pass”.
