The universal complex Stand-Start of the Baikonur cosmodrome is one of the greatest monuments of the ambitious Soviet space exploration plans. It’s the very object we are going to visit right now.

Platform 250.

Service tower.

One of light towers.

The acoustical sound test stand together with the assembly and filling complex.

Hoses for filling and discharge of rocket fuel.

So-called “grasshoppers”.

Launch pad itself.

Top of the mast.

View of the pad 110 from where Energia-Buran was launched.

In order to attain some orbits you have to launch at the correct time, be it day or night. Can’t stop the Earth from turning.
