Long Way of Drinking Water

What stages does bottled water undergo to get to offices and houses? Let us find it out at the drinking water plant “Sestritsa” (“Sister”) of Ioshkar-Ola, Russia.

Artesian water is extracted from the depth of 120 meters in the protected area of the Arbansky water intake area and through the plastic pipeline it comes to the plant.
Then the water undergoes several stages of filtration.

It’s the warehouse of the used bottles, they are sorted and approximately 30% of them are discarded.

19 litres bottles are made of high-quality eco-friendly polycarbonate and polyethylene which do not affect taste, color, smell and composition of water.

Every bottle is inspected manually – it should be transparent, have no smell and have a label.

The bottles are brought to the special zone protected from dust.

Washing consists of several stages: washing with special solution, washing with water treated with ultraviolet light, desinfection with acidic disinfectant, final washing with water treated with ultraviolet light.

Concentration of detergent and disinfectant is maintained automatically.

They maintain cleanliness here.

In the background are four carbon filters the water goes through. Then it is poured into the tanks. This process is contactless not to spoil the bottles.

All the water is ozonized. The spicific smell of ozon will disappear very fast.

Now the bottles are closed and attached labels to.

And dated.

Packed.

Final inspection. Defected bottles should not leave the plant!

Before being supplied to customers the water is stored in the warehouse and “listens” to classic music.

No, really, the music goes from here.

Maybe it does not work but it won’t affect the water somehow anyway.

Then the water is loaded on a vehicle and transported to Yoshkar-Ola, Cheboksary, Kazan and Nizhny Novgorod.

On the second floor of the plant they fill smaller bottles.

This is a conveyor.

Small bottles are made from such workpieces.

0, 5 and 1,5 l. bottles are blown at the temperature of 200C: one blow – four bottles.

The bottles are washed in the conditions of sterile air. Each bottle is washed for ten seconds with water treated by ultraviolet light.

Then they come to the bottling box with sterile air too.

Each bottle is labeled.

Then the bottles are grouped into 12 pcs (0,5 l) or 6 pcs (1,5 l) and wrapped with shrink film.

All groups undergo lab testing.

Sorry, but I must be missing something.

If this water is so natural and good, why does it have to be filtered multiple times?

And it’s an outright lie to say the plastic containers do not affect the water. All plastics out-gas after manufacture and contaminate whatever the contain.

It is so stupid to only have five pics on a page! Can you please put all pics on one or two pages?
