Bachatsky open-pit coal mine is one of the largest mines of Kuzbas. Its annual output is over 8 million 700 thousand tons. It extract fuel for energetic and metallurgical fields of Russia and many other countries of the world. The mine uses 29 excavators, 63 dumpers, 9 locomotives, 3 rigs and 24 heavy bulldozers. The biggest among all dumptrucks is BelAZ-75600, its capacity is 320 tons, full mass – 500 tons! In the former countries of the USSR it’s the biggest truck.

Bachatsky coal mine is located in the city of Belovo of the Kemerovo region. Its area is 10×2 km and its depth is 300 m.

The mine has been working since 1949. It was the world first mine that started to extract caking coal in the open way in 1966.

At the moment they are using 29 excavators with buckets of capacity from 4 to 33 m3.

They also use “Harniscfeger” excavators, “Caterpillar” trucks with capacity from 110 to 320 tons.

BelAZ 75600 is the largest dumptruck at this coal mine and on the whole planet. The first one appeared here in 2006, now they have four.

It can take away up to three railcars of rock mass per trip.

Length – 14.5 m
Width – 9.25 m
Height – 7.22 m (three storey house).

It’s equipped with a 18-cylinder diesel engine with mass of eleven tons and power of 2610 kW (3500 hp). Engine capacity – 77.5 liters.

The process of rock mass loading.

Total volume of the hydraulic system – 600 liters of oil, pressure in the working circuit – 165 atmospheres.

This monster can speed up to 64 km/h.

The vehicle has three control pedals – gas, disc brake and electromagnetic brake-retarder.

All electronics is controlled by the “Siemens” system – these electric boxes cost approximately as much as half of the price of BelAZ 75600 – eighty million rubles (2 million 600 thousand dollars).

Each wheel weighs eight tons and costs about one million of rubles (33 thousand rubles). For its mounting a special loader is needed.

The truck has the following options: air conditioner, air cleaning system in the cab, additional heater, electrically heated mirrors, radio recorder, alarm device which activates when the truck approaches high voltage power lines.

Rock mass loading from the huge electric excavator Р&Н −2800 ХР (“Harniscfeger).

The total length of the road network is 110 km including 55 km of the technological highway.

The rock mass is subsequently loaded into railcars.

Each vehicle has four drivers and works 24/7 undergoing maintenance each 250 operational hours.

For twelve hours of work a 220 tonned BelAZ overcomes 150 km and transports 5-7 thousand tons of rock mass, consumes 2-2,5 tons of fuel.

The vehicle overcomes about 100 thousand kilometres a year and it’s usually written off after 600 thousand of kilometres.
