Inside this post are some shots of a Mi-6 plane once abandoned, rusty, lonely today and sharing the sad destiny of many others which were built for something big and important…

In July 2012 it looked this way.

And here is what can be found today…

Gearboxes lie close.

And here’s what has remained from the cabin.

Fuselages are cut along the line of the portholes.

    Millions of Rubles just rotting in the ground. But such large machines wear out and break too. In the air, no room for mistake.

    Nice pics, but the flying example is an Mi-8 and not an Mi-6 like the one in the rest of the series

    That wreck’s a Mil Mi-26,whereas the flying one is a Mil Mi-8.

    They even left the engines. Every time I see one of these boneyards, the tinkerer in me wishes I could go play with it.

    if you re-wire and power up some of those electronic cockpit parts , i’m pretty much sure they will run up. :-P
