Soviet Sport Girls and Beaches In the 1930s

    13
Posted on February 5, 2013 by team

Look at the photographs of the pre-war USSR women in sport and at beaches. Aren’t they pretty mush different from contemporary females? Yes, these women are neither some stars of the past nor participants of beauty contests, but it’s quite evident that beauty standards have considerably changed since then. Do you want them back?

“Long live the leader of peoples, the best friend of sportsmen, great Stalin!”

    “Ready for labour and defence!”

    The club of physical training.

“Welcoming the Games of Peoples of the USSR!”

    Odessa 1967.

    Odessa, 1967.

    Stay in a healthy body!

Good pictures, healthy good looking girls. It is tragic to know that most of them were probably killed in 2WW or by the Stalin regime.

Some of the pictures are definitely not 30s, unless there was time travel to get the Moscow olimpic games mascot in the 30′s :)

In the 30′s nobody was complaining that girls’ parade outfits were revealing so many “details”?

The human race is pretty forgetful on what constitutes as ‘natural’ or ‘taboo’ every now and then. You know, we were pretty okay with mass-cleavage all around in the 1800s, but then a few decades later people gasp and look away when they see the same thing. People back then probably thought, “Nipples under sportswear. Okay whatever.” in 1930s Russia.

So grownup nipples are bad, but topples teengirls, with budding breasts on the beach are ok? (granted, the pic is from -36, as i understand it..)

Looking at the pictures taken in the 1930s, I always wonder how many of those in the pictures survived the purges and the war.

        “Purges” are total BS.

There were “war” for power between two political/military groups, but there were no that damn mindless massacres you can see in 95% of “historical” movies/programs.

        It’s just a propaganda.

At least the women in Soviet times had sensible shoes.

The photo with a bear is from 1980, not from 1930.
