On the south of Russkiy island of the Russian Far East there is an island called Shkota. It used to be populated by militarymen but today it’s fully abandoned. Only ruins of military barracks and a coastal battery remind of people who used to live here.

Here are remains of concrete vats for salting fish.

Nearby, in the forest, are the town of gunners of 904-th battery, remains of barracks.

The structures are already overgrown with trees.

Then we enter Voroshilov battery.

And soon we go further to the lighthouse.

It does not function anymore.

One more old barrack in the forest.

And it’s that very 904th battery.

A through grotto is here.

Here is how one can leave the island.

abandoned? maybe they use to do the weird military experiments there and something went wrong forcing everybody to evacuate hahaah, just like in the horror movies, BTW love the scenery
beautiful island
the only thing that island is called shikotan, not shkota!!! amend yourself ER
No, it’s Shkota. Shikotan is a Kuril island.
15 billions spent on bridge to Russkiy and people must walk on the ice to Shkota? Shameful.
China could have built the bridge for half in half the amount of time.
Cool vast .How did you get there?
I’m always amazed at how nature can easily destroy anything we can build. I love these photos, I wish I could be there.
