Life In Russia More Than 100 Years Ago

We have already shown you the photos of tsarist Russia taken by Sergey Prokudin-Gorsky. Color photos of that period are a unique heritage. But there was another classic photographer whose photos were not less precious. It’s Maxim Dmitriev. But as opposed to Prokudin-Gorsky he showed different Russia to us, which was not so perfect for being on postcards.

    Much better than life with Putin.

      At least the cities were not crawling with “workers” from the muslim republics…the revolution was Russia´s biggest mistake and it still pays for it.

    Just wondering…the ere is a picture markied “Loaning Bread”. Do the peasants have to give it back? :)

      No, they did what most of still do when they use a credit card: buy now – pay later ; quite common also in Western Europe until the 1950s/60s

      Typhoid was a problem until the end of the second world war. In order to cure it you need antibiotics which were invented by Alexander Fleming during the second world war.
