Battle For Stalingrad: 70 Years After

    16
Posted on November 21, 2012 by team

    19th of November, 1942. 7:30 a.m.

The air over Stalingrad started shaking. Volleys of thousands of artillery shells marked the beginning of the “Uranus” operation – a counter-offensive one, which became a radical turn in the Second World War.

Seventy years have passed and last Sunday there was held a reconstruction in Volgograd devoted to that battle.

Six hours remain before the start.

The Romanians came from Bucharest to participate in the event.

We can see T-34 tanks though they didn’t participate in that battle.

    They are rehearsing.

    The storm operation is rehearsed.

It’s time to begin the reconstruction!

Some dozens of hospitals were on the territory of Stalingrad.

    The Germans are attacking!

The first victims start to appear.

    It was really loud!

There began a lightning storm of Soviet troops.

    We have won!

    “Hitler is a flea!”

    Location:Volgograd

We are lucky that this kind of war is made just for fun today. At least in our part of the world. In the past to many people died because of the madness of their leaders.
Peace and respect for all who died in the war.

“We can see T-34 tanks though they didn’t participate in that battle.” Those on the photos are later T-34/85. Earlier T-34s did, but they were usually shot to pieces long before they reached German positions.

The main problem with the reenacting is that they all wear clean uniforms. That doesn’t look very real and accurate.

Why do they want to relive such an awful battle? Just be glad they won and honor its veterans.

Does anyone know if unexploded ordinances are being found and detonated in that region?

It happens from time to time, and not only here. Mainly they find large ordinance, like aircraft bombs

As for the T-34:s I must admit I have never seen any photos of them inside the actual city. But they were used in the attacks launched from the north to delay the Germans and find time for Tjujkovs men to pull back into the city. And in November when Zjukov let loose his armys on the Hungarians on the flanks there were a lot of them, but of course they never went into the city. And of course they were all T34/76′s

They were used in the city, this is well documented in memoirs, just like the fact they had no chance to survive. Stuck in the no man’s land, their burnt remains became the proverbial “ferryman’s huts on Marne”.

Where is the famous sculpture Children dancing around crocodile? – Yes, both sides had tanks in Stalingrad. Some buried themselves in rubble to become firing points. – Perhaps the most stunning and electrifying victory of the War, at just the right critical moment – the Soviet people get an A+. Kursk battle probably close second, and Moscow defense.
