One Regiment During WWI

Below are the pictures of the 39th Tomsk infantry regiment that participated in battles of WWI. By the way the regiment had been very old. Its soldiers even fought in the battles against France in 1812 near Borodino.

These rare photos show how the soldiers used to fight, what weapons they used, what uniform they had on during World War the First.

Regimental staff.

Obtaining the goods.

The artillery.

Having dinner.

Shooting practice.

Sorry, the US isn’t going to let China have them back until they become a democracy and peaceably rejoin Taiwan. As long as the government still follows the backward, outdated, failed philosophy of Communism, the islands will be out of reach.

      where are you from???
a war with america would be lose-lose but china should not be afraid of if!!haha

    • Ball Breaker says:

These days, I seriously doubt that the US would defend those islands and fight their main creditors.
That’s the problem with huge debts: you get owned until you pay… Even to Communist Countries like China.

      • Archy Bunka says:

Why not? War means debt is nullified. As long as you win, of course.

          “…As long as you win…”

Everybody would lose. That’s why W and his boss Cheney didn’t mess with the Chinese. It was better to ask them for some money to get by…

I wonder what was the eventual fate of that regiment? Did it survive the war against the Central Powers and participate in the civil war; and is it even still in existence? Obviously, a distinguished unit in the Imperial Army.

  8. Aleksey says:

Fighting in France outside of Borodino would make the solders over 120 yrs old, 1812 to 1914? They must be vets from russo turkish war

  10. Peter Riley says:

They all look well fed, well clothed and well equipped. Was this normal in the Russian army of WW1?

  11. Archy Bunka says:

Russian Imperial Army showed unparalleled bravery in WW1. Many opposing German officers marveled at the Russian soldiers ability to endure hardship. Hardship, was not in short supply in WW1.
Imperial Russia, however, was not in a position to fight such a war. The government was slow, inefficient and poorly led by Tsar Nicholas.
The Germans sent their agent to Russia, he was amply supplied with funds, his name was Lenin.

    • Chac Mool says:

Lenin? You should look for Sidney Reilly. An authentic super spy of that era.

And later Soviets had the German Richard Sorge on their side, probably the most important spy of all time.

      Both were caught and killed.
