Inside The Exploded Nuclear Power Station

We are again at the decommissioned nuclear power station near the city of Pripyat, Ukraine. Reactor Four  exploded in Chernobyl in 1986 and the power plant is now within a large restricted area known as the Chernobyl Exclusion Zone. What is the situation there today after so many years?

The radiation is still there.

The fishes are bigger than usual.

A former salon.

Plants keep growing in spite of the heat.

Blocks 1-4 are connected with a long ‘golden’ corridor which is over 1 km long.

Close to the object affected by a nuclear explosion. The view is really terrifying.

0,2 is a normal value. Today personnel of the station is busy with support of the station in the proper condition and taking it out from the service. Electric energy generation was stopped on 15 December 2000.

Q: Why do Russian nuclear technicians wear the white hats?
A: So their hair doesn’t fallout.

  2. These fishes would eat humans ;-)

  3. timoulete says:

about the size of fishes is not due to the radiation, just because tourists from Chernobyl tour give some (too much ?) bread.
btw nice pics ! nature grow up each year. Time lapse from 1986 would be great

I always nice to see pics on Chernobyl! I’m pretty sure that those fish are only bigger because there is nobody to fish them!

There wasn’t any nuclear explosion at chernobyl. There was a steam and hydrogen explosion. The extreme heat separated the water molecules to hydrogen and oxygen. That gas exploded, there wasn’t any nuclear fission related explosion. The proof is Eastern Europe still exists.

Thank you for the promotion of our radiometric measurement device. It is best in world.

    So where’s the Wishgranter?

People…The fish are huge not because you watch and believe monster movies but because NO ONE is fishing for them. In the Bayoou here catfish grow to enormous 40-60lbs. These in this picture may have radio activity but that doen’s make things huge…if that was true Russia, China, and the US would have monsters like Godzilla crawling around…really now….If anything radioactivity stunts growth and mutants things…look at the pictures of the children that were born after the accident…

I’m suprised you didn’t post the video of the helicopetr melting in mid-air…
