From what I’ve read the “Soviet” stereotype for women over 30 traced it’s causes to the Stalinist culture. Stalin rejected the free love and women’s rights (abortion was outlawed under Stalin) that women had in the post-revolution decade of the 1920s. Stalin brought back the traditional role of women having lots of children and though he didn’t discourage women working, none of his clique’s wives did so. They dressed lavishly and ordered dresses from Berlin, Paris, etc. The hard life ordinary women experienced were in large part the result of his harsh policies, the Terror, the Second World War (where he was unprepared for the German invasion despite evidence contrary to his) and his 19th century mind. I believe things would have been very different without him, but it didn’t happen. After Stalin, it was harder to not change than to change. Conservatism wins out throughout human societies (and that’s a shame).

fat, messy and had bad teeth ?
    lies lies lies !

“It was found out later that in Poland they did the makeup on the dead.” WTF??

These people back than did physical work rather than desk jobs and ate none pre processed food, being fat back than would be difficult.

  5. babajaga says:

You Russians are still think and belive, that your nation, industry and culture are better than Polish.
But you shouldt to know when in Poland industry was growing at the same time in Russia 80% people were illiterate.

So next time if you will want to describe any other nation naer Russian thin twice, because people don’t wan’t to read lies and innonces text.

    • Chac Mool says:

So, that’s because “in Poland they did the makeup on the dead”…? I didn’t understand that. What does that mean?

    • vorontsevich says:

How ironic. You Poles think YOUR nation, industry and culture are better than ours, don’t you? Meh, opinions are like a-holes, everyone has one.

The last time, “in Russia 80% were illiterate” was a century ago, and I strongly suspect Poland didn’t have a viable economy, let alone one that was growing.

As for modern times, lets see, Russia is a nuclear power, UNSC permanent member and actually has some clout on the world stage, as opposed to Poland. In terms of industry/economy, Russia’s economic growth is at around the same level as Polands, the Russian economies industry share is far, far bigger and last time I checked, it was the Russian economy that is the 6th largest in the world, not Poland.

So next time, you go insulting Russians, and displaying your (polish) superiority complex, think twice, or better yet, actuall THINK for once.

Speaking of illiteracy using your poor english is at least to be found ridiculous. What is your problem – “makeup on the dead” meaning nothing at all? Anyone to explain for I, being Polish myself, feel I should have that explained.

  11. Asmodeus says:

@SSSR, somehow I’m glad to hear that. Russian women are among the most beautiful on the planet.
