Whisper of the Nature

Posted on July 11, 2012 by team

You do not need much to plunge into state of harmony with nature. Hippies just take a rucksack, a tent and a sleeping bag and go to the Carpathians. "Shipot" festival attracts a lot of punks, Rastas, nudists, various freaks...

I see parallels from the 19th century in both the U.S. and Russia. In the U.S.: the transcendentalists (Emerson, Thoreau, others) and the Utopians. In Russia: the nihilists, the youthful “to the people” movement of the 1870s, the Molokans, and the wandering pilgrims. These particular people seem to be predominately Beat.

Haha! The end of Russia!! Didn’t work in the USA in the ’60’s, won’t work in Russia in 2010’s….

    • Zach says:

It did work, in United States, just not the way people thought it would. The Renaissance didn’t happen overnight.

    • Cabbot says:

Yeah. Uh, the pre-hippie days in the 1960s were a total mess culture-wise. Go look at some PSA ads from the 1960s-1950s in youtube.

Honestly, I’m glad that the hippie movement happened. Because it meant that I was raised to ignore my mom who was trying to raise me to fear girls and think that any one of them could be sluts and carrying diseases.

Um, no thanks. That was effectively what the pre-hippie 1960s society was telling EVERYONE back then. All the while when most of Western Europe were becoming more modernised and ‘swinging’ while America Tv made great pains to show married couples sleeping in two different beds.

How come you guys always “censor” the photos with hot girls in them…the loonies from Femen for example. And here in this post, you didn’t, and I really wish that you had !!!

  5. OldBikr says:

As for getting back to nature, “You need to remember where you came from, in order to help you get to where you are going to.”

  6. Macsen says:

Wow! Were these photos taken in Russia? They look like some “parties” I’ve attended on Vancouver Island, BC, CND, and Denman Islanc, BC, Hornby Island, BC, Texada Island, BC (With awesome “Texada Timewarp” pot), etc…

Gave me a feeling of nostalgia. Wish I could have been there. Could have been in N. California, Oregon, or Washington back in the good old days. Glad that my people exist in Russia, too.

  22. CZenda says:

I guess Ukraine and Romania are the only European countries where one can build a campfire in a middle of a wood without instant arrival of a forest ranger or a fireman :D
