Mastodon Drivers

Posted on June 11, 2012 by team

We are in Ostrogozhsk, at the base of the 37th training vehicle brigade where a meeting of specialists of the Russian Armed Forces logistic support system took place. Many wheeled and crawler vehicles are inside the post.

The vehicle brigade is in Ostrogozhsk, the Voronezh region. Floating chassis BAZ is used for the monument.

There are interactive whiteboards and projecting cameras in the classrooms.

Russians do not over complicate machinery it is kept simple and crude but effective.

The machine is a beast to say the least but very crude.

  2. Mercal says:

Tracked vehicles are superior in protection (not talking about beast machine).

Wheeled vehicles are inferior when in battle situations. The tracked BMP are 100 times more agile, more weapons and can survive better than flats.

It’s not as simple as saying tracked vehicles are better than wheeled ones and then going on to order only tracked ones.

Tracks or wheels have nothing to do with a vehicles protection. Only factor is how much weight it can support.

i don’t think you can say that light/heavy armour can guarantee safety 100% of the time. The Chechens have put up enough videos of very large explosives taking out tanks. that’s the problem with guerilla warfare.

No matter how much armour you put on a vehicle, there is always a weapon that is stronger and can/will defeat it. And tons of heavy armor only serve to weigh you down and slowing you down as well.
