Burning sun, endless yellow sand, pure crystal water and huge mechanisms like from some fantastic movies. Yes, it’s quite a weird place.

This pit was the youngest in the region, its quarrying started in the end of the 1980s. In fact they didn’t even reach the layer of minerals when one big country slipped out of existence. Thus they didn’t manage to obtain anything from here but sand…

The machine weighs 12000 t (compare to a tank that weighs about 40t). Assembly of each machine took 1,5-2 years. They all were supplied with energy from sub-stations via cables. The speed of the excavator is about 5 km a day.
