Abandoned Ropeway In Svetlogorsk

Svetlogorsk, a city in the Kaliningrad region, has a relief natural for nearshore cities – high coast raises right at the sea. For the fast ascent and discent a ropeway was constructed in 1983. It was not huge, with cabins for two and a continuos operation cycle. It hasn’t been working for 3-4 years…

“Ropeway. 5 minutes to the station”

The length of the way is 118 m. . Elevation change is about 40 m. It has 18 cabins on the ropes.

“No entrance”

The ropeway connected the station and the embankment.

“The staff of the ropeway wishes you nice rest and bright impressions”

“Do not go round the pulley”

Nowhere without a carpet!

      Of course it could be repaired. The question remains, should it be repaired. I imagine it is not being used due to a lack of funds and of public interest.
