Assorted Russia, Part 55

Posted on April 9, 2012 by team

If you have no safety equipment, your friend is always there to help you. That’s one of the principles of the guest workers who are building a house in Tomsk.

This guy doesn’t need safety equipment either. He managed to reach the top star of the skyscraper in Kotelnicheskaya embankment in Kiev… This video is really scary!

Kharkiv scientists have invented an unusual device that will allow to charge a cellphone from … fire. Even if you find yourself in a wild forest, far from civilization, all you need is to make a fire.

Students of the physical and energetic department of the Kharkiv National University named after Karazin took only a week to invent the device. The idea had been described in a diploma thesis of one of the students.

They bought Peltier element, some electronic components, assembled a connector that converts a weak signal of Peltier element in such an element that is sutable for charging a cellphone. All the details they used had been existing for long but no one ever used them together.

According to the inventers a small fire or a candle is enough to get a charge. They claim that no analogs exist neither in Ukraine not abroad.

The guys assembled the device for some minutes, lit candles, put a cup of cold water on a copper plate – and … the cellphone started being charged …
The unique device weighs a bit more than 100 grams, its cost price is about 150 hryvnas (18,5 USD).

News about the watch of Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia Kirill went pretty much public. First the official website showed this photo from a meeting where Patriarch wore this expensive watch. Then the photo was photoshopped but those who did it forgot about the reflection on the table. Bloggers soon noticed it and returned the original back.

Do you think true believers should live ascetic life?

In GUM (main Moscow department store) they have recently opened a museum “Historical toilet” – where one may trim himself/herself, take a shower, change a baby’s napkin, brush teeth, make up or shave.

Such a pleasure costs 100 rubles (3.30 USD). You get a set of towels, a gown, slippers and a hairdryer, some body care cosmetics. If you decide to take a shower you’ll pay 500 rubles (15 USD).

Some guys made a man of duck tape and decided to scare passers-by. The doll looked very natural but it didn’t move so people soon understood it was a joke.

Soon someone called the police and the doll was confiscated.

So… the Patriarch is a vampire? His image isn’t showing up in the mirror.

The third photo of the series is the best one: religion has withered away, leaving only it’s gold and emptiness.

Ok, that video of the guy climbing up high on the building made me sick. It felt like someone kicked me in the nether parts. Did they retrieve the video from his dead body after he fell to his death?

The Kotelnicheskaya Embankment Building is in Moscow, not Kiew.

For charging with fire, google “thermoelectric effect”, “Peltier cell” etc. Similar toys are widely marketed for a lot of uses, like LED lighting etc.

If they asked for weapons or military product they would provide you with the finest in the world.

Ask for safety products and they provide you with someone to hold your feet.
