A Forgotten Hotel In The Center Of Kiev

Posted on April 4, 2012 by kulichik

The abandoned hotel was found in Kiev, Ukraine.

    ‘The elevator is not functioning’

    Somebody still guards the place.

The notebook is saying that it is safe to stay at this place till now.

    Reception.

Pizzeria used to be located on the first floor.

    Kitchen.

The staff may belong to the guard.

Rooms are supplied with different furniture and wallpapers.

The building is old and has many arcs and a ceiling that is far from being smooth.

    Holy water.

There are 7 floors in the building but the rooms were available on all the floors except for the first one.

A bid dancing hall was found on the last floor with glass walls and entrance to the roof of the adjacent building.

    Location: Kiev

If this is in the center of Kiev it must be worth a fortune.. I don’t understand why they didn’t renovate it.. especially with the euro games

No need to renovate it. The condition is more than adequate for British football fans.

Ukraine used to be the part of the Soviet Union, together with Russia.
Btw. this building was surely beautiful. Such a pity nobody wants to renovate it.

The relationship goes back further than that. The Ukraine and Belorussia (White Russia) were SSRs, but they were in the shadow of Russia culturally and politically for decades or centuries before. Kiev is actually the first flowering of Russian culture, before the ascendancy of Moscow. By the 19th century many “Great Russians” saw the Ukraine and other Russian Orthodox countries areas as part of a larger pan-slavic entity, whether these other places wanted to be politically united with Russia or not.

So sad to see an Hotel in this state. It makes your mind wander and wonder what history a place like this must have. Hopefully someone will buy it an re-invent it and bring it back to its former state or better. The managers office looks typical of the space that a manger in Kiev would be afforded.
