Progress In Construction Of The Bridge To Russky Island

Let’s see how construction of the cable-stayed bridge to the Russky Island over the Golden Horn Bay in Vladivostok is going. It’s being constructed in Vladivostok today in the framework of preparation to APEC Summit-2012.

Minister Basargin arrived at Vladivostok on March, 28th. Perhaps the mayor decided to show him around the city and the bridge under construction from a helicopter.

The last, 24th pair of cable stays installed is 395 m long. The first pair was 105 m long.

Dismantling temporary supports.

Total strand length (the northern part of the bridge) is 800 km which is longer than the distance between Vladivostok and Khabarovsk.

Strand weight is 1,400 tons.


It smells like oil and and a lot of garbage can be seen in the middle of the bay.

They plan to complete the bridge by July, 1st.

This building will be an opera and ballet theater.

They also plan to build a four-lane 250-meter long tunnel for cars.

    Correction: That is not the bridge to Russkiy Island, it’s the bridge that crosses golden horn bay (zolotoy rog). The bridge to Russkiy can be seen on the background, on the very first pic.

    Greate photos, but this is not a bridge to Russky island, this one is a ‘Zolotoy Rog Bridge’, a bridge over a bay Golden horn. It is also in Vladivostok.
