    Wastewater Treatment Facilities In Voronezh

“Voronezhsintezkauchuk” is one of the leading producers of high-quality rubber, latex and thermoelastolayer in Russia. A tour to its treatment facilities happened in April, 2011.

    At the entrance.

    The complex.

Some treatment processes occur inside the building while others are carried out outdoors.

The complex has been designed for “Voronezhsintezkauchuk” solely and it doesn’t apply to the municipal sewage system. One of its supply pressure lines is 700 mm in diameter (the second one is backup).

First of all, wastewater gets to its mechanical treatment department that includes 4 wastewater mechanical treatment units Rotamat Ro5BG9 by HUBER (3 working and 1 backup). The conveyer delivers waste and sand to the ground of solid domestic waste.

After that, this water goes to a sewage regulator. There are two of them here.

The sewage regulators are equipped with mechanical wastewater mixing systems of a capacity of 7,580 m3.

After that, the water is pumped to skimmers.

The skimmers are 4 flotation installations (3 working and 1 backup).

They are used for saturation and coagulant supply to remove latex and other suspended particles.

Pressure flotation is used to separate light suspended particles or emulsion from liquid phase by means of air bells and reagents.

They also use cationic flocculant, for example Zetag 7689 (about 0.8 g per 1 m3), to make flotation more effective and reduce reagent consumption.

    In the sludge drying department.

Sludge drying is carried out by adding a cationic flocculant solution.

Dried sludge undergoes disinfection and final drying.

    “Heat exchanger”.

Filtrate and dirty scourage goes to a dirty water reservoir.

This is where a flocculant solution is made.

Behind that green door from the photo above is an autonomous boiler room.

Its blowing house is equipped with three centrifugal blowers (2 working and 1 backup). They use air for aeration, regeneration and washing of post-treatment filters.

Post-treatment is carried out by means of gravity sand filters.

    There are 10 filters here.

High-silica sand and gravel are used.

After that, the water undergoes ultraviolet disinfection.

Productivity of the UV installation used is 1,250 m3/h.

Scourage, sludge waters and filtrate get accumulated in the dirty water reservoir.

Then the water goes to radio precipitation tanks for clarification.

    There are 3 of them.

    This one is almost empty.

    An operator.

This is it on water purification. After UV disinfection, the water goes to the water reservoir of the city of Voronezh. The process described above guarantees that all requirements for wastewater treatment are met.

Note to self: Drink only bottled water in Voronezh.

Awesome post… I visited voronezh in 2005. The water had mineral content, but smell and taste was good. However the hot water was central? and not many residences had water heaters, which I found odd. But bottled water was recommended for consumption.
