Modern Media Center For Your Country Cottage

Isn’t it a great idea to make a modern media center from an old Soviet radio and record player?

The player we are going to use was made in 1965 by VEF. It is operational and works quite well.

It’s always easier to disassemble stuff.

Friends are always ready to help you break something!

This wooden box is what we need.

An acoustic system Logitech will fit well into the media center.

We’re also going to need an old but functioning computer.

Fitting in the loudspeakers is one of the most difficult parts.

A decorative cover for the screen.

    An old but functioning keyboard.

For the decorative cover and glass use hot-melt glue.

    Illumination.

      Interesting…. but.

If you take the speakers out of their enclosure, you change the way they sound. The plastic enclosure is part of the whole design, not just a box to hold the speaker (it used to be that way, but not any more).

I like the way they did the buttons, but, it looks like you can’t see the buttons and the screen at the same time. You have to look at the screen, then move and look at the buttons.

Maybe make the screen a “pop up” when you open it? Then you can see both. Not too easy, but easier.

While your consistent support for socialism is admirable, at times it is also weird. Just saying.

I would be happy to have a device like this. Those things are hard to find here in Germany!

I would have been pleasure to make the old player working.

Nice, but it will never have that warm sound that can only come from using vacuum tubes.

REAL radios glow in the dark.
