    Posted on March 22, 2012 by ok4u2bu

Let’s see what’s going on in 23rd Separate Guards Motorized Infantry Brigade located in the village of Kryazh, the Samara Region.

    Its checkpoint.

Today the military base cooperates with cleaning companies so the military men don’t get distracted from exercising and mastering their skills in military service anymore.

It’s clean and tidy in the barracks too.

There are nine people in one room.

    A recreation room.

There is also a Cossack unit at the base.

Officers of the day wear bullet-proof vests.

    BTR-80 simulators.

Looking at this screen, they can watch the work of each soldier.

    Heading to the gym.

Half of the building is closed for reconstruction.

    The gym looks well-equipped.

Exercising in warding off a terrorist attack.

There was a series of explosions but everybody knew what to do to render the enemy harmless.

Groups of soldiers stay in touch via radio communication.

Continuous shooting and occasional explosions quickly bring you back to earth and make you focus.

They were going to storm and seize the enemy who captured the checkpoint.

    Done.

Celebrating the victory in the cafeteria.

They serve milk and juice in plastic packages to prevent pilfering.

As for their money allowance, the squad commander makes about $1,000 a month, the battalion commander makes twice as much and contract soldiers receive about $800 a month.

Not a very good looking meal. Four pieces of bread, a bun, and all those noodles? No real substance to that. That’ll burn right off, or go to fat real fast. Filling, but no substance.

That meal looks extremely good especially for the army. My dad still remembers when they only served grechka every day.

Why do you keep asking that?

        1) Most red-tabs probably in the early 20′s. The conscripts are 18 and 19 yrs old.

        2) Not sure, but average height of Russian males are said to be between 170 and 180 cm.

        Satisfied?! :P

Suuuure. How times have changed! Apparently, nowadays, soldiers assigned even to the kitchen get full combat gear.

Seeing that food, it is probably best to eat armed. No telling if something will jump off the plate and bite you.

If thats your reaction to the new food, I wonder whether you will have a heart attack if you saw the food I got in the early 2000′s. :D

The regular meals didn’t look appetizing at all, and some of it tasted terrible. But eventually you get used to it, and you learn to be thankful for what you have.

By the old standards, these troops look like they are having a New Years meal.
