The National library of Belarus relates to one of the largest libraries in the world. The building is twice heavier than the Ostankino Tower and is included into the list of top 50 most unusual buildings in the world where it occupies the 24th position. At night the library can be seen from the space. Let us see what the library looks like from the inside.

It is located in the central street of the capital called Prospect of Independence.

The building has a shape of rhombicuboctahedron but its employees call it a diamond as 9 million units are kept inside. The library is 73 m high (23 floors).

It took 4 years to build the library.

It is possible to take photos inside only if you are accompanied by a guide and are a part of a tourist group.

A lot of glass was used during construction.

All things must be left at a baggage room which is free.

The floor is made of glass and is 3 cm thick.

The database includes over 12000 on-line versions of books in Russian. Full texts of books in Economics, Sociology, History, Philosophy, Cultural Studies, Psychology, Linguistics, Literature, Law and Art are available.

The ordered book will be sent to you though the gutter.

The corridor leads to the reading halls.

There are 20 reading halls in the library, each of them embraces 2000 people.

    Pictures of Belarus artists.

    Conference halls.

The glass elevator will take you to the roof.

A cafe is located next on the roof. The observation ground is surrounded by a glass fence.

    Views of Minsk.

    Prospect of Independence.

    A residential area.

    Location: Minsk

It looks modern from the outside, but the interior gave me a resemblance of North Korea somehow :O
