The Nenets people are an indigenous tribe that have been inhabiting this region for ages. Their prehistoric life involved subsistence hunting and gathering continues up to the present time. Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug is a federal subject of Russia. Its administrative center is the town of Salekhard.

Ty-ty. And what support would the government give them? They are choosing to live off of the land. Should the Russian government settle them in cities and destroy their traditional way of life?
There is a lot of support, actually. State buys their products for a very high price. These people have snowmobiles and fuel, their children are educated in special boarding schools so they can later choose another life if they want to. What else do they need? Lots of welfare so they can abandon their work and drink alcohol all the time? Welfare destroys such nations.

A few days ago I attended an event to educate the life of the Nenets. Hand-fed deer, listened to their stories, drums. What is happening is not really shown in the photo, but it was heard from directly Nenets. Our country is trying not to get involved in the culture of these unique people.
