“Spartak Movie Theater”.

Nolinsk is situated 140 km from Kirov. Like other old and shabby towns of the country, Nolinsk has a museum, a couple of cafeterias… and a movie theater.

Its projectionist has been working in Spartak for about 25 years.

Many years ago, they would build a separate entrance into the projector room.

Let’s watch Dziga Vertov’s “A Man with a Movie Camera.”

When I see a pictorial like this I ask myself: don’t they have insurance? If this theater was anywhere in the West, the roof would have been replaced, or, the theater shut down.
I don’t want to sound like a snob. But the absence of a framework of economy in the East, can be detrimental to progress.
There are two sides to the story. Insurance does cost money and some businesses, particularly small businesses, suffer at the cost of paying for it. Then there may not be a theater at all.
