Assorted Russia, Part 47

Posted on February 13, 2012 by

A 54-year-old man has been living in a cave in a forest in the Chelyabinsk Region for 10 years. This is how he has escaped from the civilization and its problems.

He gave up his job and his dormitory room to go fishing and enjoy nature. For his unusual lifestyle, he’s been nicknamed “caveman”.

The man goes hunting and fishing to get some food to survive and says he likes his life.

In winter, his home is not easy to find.

Near his home, he built a well, a restroom and a sawmill. Inside the cave, there is a stove, a bed and books to read.

When he has some free time, he reads or plays accordion. He says he likes the herbal tea he makes by himself.

He knows nothing about the events which happen in the world and neither the economic crisis nor the meetings affect him.

In summer he makes some money by working as a builder and in winter he enjoys living away from the Internet and cellphones.

Once he fell in love with a girl and wanted her to live with him but the girl refused.

This is a bus stop with a shoe hanging on it. Seems those who painted the bus stop didn’t want to bother themselves much…

This bicycle is handmade and intended to carry cargoes. They ask $750 for it. How much would you pay to own it?

The bloke living in the forest – he is lucky to be living in Russia. In Britain, he would quickly be taken to court for daring to build his home without planning permission (i presume), and probably face a criminal conviction – all because he was trying to live a more environmentally-friendly way of life.

So much for “the west”, it’s “liberties” and “working for a sustainable green future”.

Add some windows and it would be an earth berm home. Only problem here in the Pacific Northwest is the rainfall soon saturates the ground to the point you’re living in a pond. In the eastern part of the state where it’s high desert, they actually do pretty well. I’ve been hearing some pretty weird stuff concerning council rulings from Britain of late. Jobsworths Ultd…
