9 The Grand Model Of Russia, Part II

The Grand Model Of Russia, Part II

We have already told you about the grand model of Russia though that time many parts of the model pictures of which will be shown below hadn’t existed yet.

The exhibition is open the whole day but it is better to visit it by midday as there is no big crowd there yet. But mind that time flies here and you will need to spend at least 3 hours at the place to appreciate everything. Free space next to the building of stock exchange is filled with a cabriolet club now.

The fountain in the nearest park has real water in it. Just push a button and the fountain will start working. Different buttons are mostly enjoyed by children. People who are 2 cm tall produce movements as well.

Workers are painting the wall of the building.

This is the coast of the Black sea. There is no free space left.

The storks have found a child in a cabbage patch.

Many things are still to be done.

Ladoga lake.

The hole looks quite interesting.

Attention to small details is amazing. The cat is trying to catch the bird.

The girl is taking a tan on the roof.

An apple-tree.

A submarine.

A typical ‘Soviet’ kindergarten.

There is a parade on the ship.

The rocket is ready to be launched.

Railway stations.

There are people inside the train. Some of them are sleeping, others are sitting.

Here air-balloons are launched.

The prisoners are escaping the prison.

The man is showing the fish he had caught. The dog seems interested.

Inhabitants of the house have a perfect view.

The people control every detail of the Grand model including movement of the trains.

This time the fire is extinguished at night. By the way, a night is replaced by a day here. The effect is achieved at the expense of special light on the ceiling.

An accident.

The guys are searching for mushrooms.

An episode from real life was reconstructed here.

The deers are sleeping! Don’t wake them up!

The most eastern part of the model.

The Far East of Russia.

This part has not been finished yet.

This is where the Siberian meteorite fell.

The children are examining the semi-abandoned house.

Aliens on the exhibition hall.

Dinosaurs are also presented.

An aviation club.

‘No smoking’

Let us move to the European part. ‘Europe-Asia’

The small people ask children not to touch them as they can break up easily.

‘Yesterday some freak deprived the place of one figure’

This part is under construction.

    The nerdy world of modelism…

  2. Fu says:

Are they trying to compete with the “Miniatur Wunderland” in Germany? Very nice model indeed.

Quote “Many things are still to be done”

With a model as complex as this one I think there will always be something to be done

  4. Emperor Norton says:

    Nice work.

  5. Osip says:

I attempted this as a child. My achievements in this regard were not so spectacular!

  6. Richard says:

The most incredible I have ever seen. Where did they get the model people? GREAT THE BEST

  7. (r)evolutionist says:

I assume the “Siberian meteorite” refers to the 1908 Tunguska event. But I believe in the comet hypothesis instead as there was never an impact crater or significant amounts of metallic debris found. And again with the aliens?! Exile the aliens to a “mind Gulag” and build another “Soviet style kindergarten”…

  8. Michaela Graham says:

Yes, almost incredibly spectacular – but where is it?
