On February 3rd, 1966 the Luna 9 was the first spacecraft to achieve a landing on a planet other than Earth and to transmit photo data back to Earth.

It neglects to say that it Landed On The Moon !

      Wow who knew that !

The Moon is the Earth! (and not a planet, but a satellite). Venera was the first man-made object to land on another planet (Venus).
