Sad… but we have much the same “winter” in Krakow, Poland. I had been to St. Petersburg two years ago – and IMO it is “samyi priekrasnyi gorod w mirie” – with or without the snow :) Greets and happy New Year!!!

I remember this! It was my last year in St. Petersburg and winter refused to arrive. The water reached over many embankments and flooded many streets.

Are there any storm sewers in the city? My wife is saying there is a similar problem in Cheboksary

No sewers would help in this case because flooding was not caused by rains or melting snow. Sea itself came to the city. Severe storm caused water level in the gulf to rise by almost four meters. Officials had closed the dam across the gulf so the flooding in the city was not really catastrophic.

We don’t really have a winter where I live. A long spring goes into a long fall, and even though some trees lose their leaves, things bloom here all year round.

Oh yeah, Global warming is over exaggerated, the weather will never change, no matter what we do. We do not have to worry about carbon in our atmosphere……………Yeah Right!!

Same weather in north eastern US, i guess its partly due to La-nina weather cycle. i’m sure there are other factors.

We had that kind of weather in Finland too, until January. After that we got -20C, more like normal winter weather. ;)
