There are many military abandoned objects near Saint-Petersburg such as grassed air strips, old aircraft hangars, military equipment landfills, etc. Below are photos of a semi-abandoned aircraft repair plant that is located not far from the southern border of the city. A parking stand of rotor-driven equipment is situated on the territory of the plant.

Well with the Mi-24s that depends they where flown by Soviet Air Force Frontal Aviation and also by the KGB(border guards) more so than by the actual Soviet Army.
And the Mi-8/17 was (and still is) used very heavily by the Soviet military and by various non military Soviet agencies the “Hip” is a very good utility and transport chopper and the vastness and remoteness of the Soviet Union means that a good chopper is going to see massive use several of the hulls in these pictures are of civil Hips.
