The Subtropics Of Azerbaijan And Local Long-Livers

    Posted on November 23, 2011 by ok4u2bu

Nine climatic zones of the eleven which exist on the planet, can be found in Azerbaijan. Let’s check its subtropical region and the city of Lankaran.

It doesn’t snow in the subtropics. Almost.

    Tangerine trees.

Do you see a feijoa in the picture?

    A lake near Lankaran.

    A beach.

While men are fishing, their wives wait for them on the beach.

For some reason, they do not use moorages here, so fishermen have to jump into cold water to moor the boat.

Border guards conduct inspections in order to find smuggled goods and sturgeon.

Fishermen usually net, but this time their catch was rather modest, just three fishes.

Next day their catch was much better. Some fisherman has even managed to catch a sturgeon.

These guys are offering their fish to a potential buyer.

Alive fish is kept in bathrooms with sea water.

    Fruits are sold along roads.

This is how they deliver fruits to points of sale.

    At the tea factory.

The director of the factory said that it was very difficult to them to compete with cheap and low-quality tea from China.

At low tide, this lighthouse seems to be standing almost in the center of the city.

    This is a lighthouse keeper.

    A fanciful anchor.

The higher you get the more snow you see.

50 kilometers away from Lankaran, in the mountains, there is Lerik Village. Its population is about 70 thousand people. 500 of them are older that 90, and 10 of them are older than 100! Isn’t it the way each of us wants to end up the life?

The whole village is covered with snow.

The village and its buildings are well-maintained.

It is the only village in the world where you can find a museum of long-livers.

If you want to live long too, hurry up to buy a home in Lerik.

This is the oldest man in Azerbaijan. He is 115 years old! He has 8 children, 80 grandchildren, 60 great grandchildren who already have 8 children of their own!

To tell you the truth, this old man is a sorry sight. He has pain in his eyes and almost never opens them. He can’t walk by himself and every movement causes him pain… Just three of his kids are still alive; they’re 68, 86 and 94 years old.
