Many things were banned in the USSR, including taking pictures of naked people. But as we all know, forbidden fruit is sweet. The pictures were made by Nikolay Bakharev.

What the heck man?!?
)
You use those black boxes on mature nipples, but leave those poor kids totally naked.
I hope it’s a mistake and you’ll fix it asap. (including removal of the boxes over grown ups
Actually the children are quite innocent. It’s what you see in them that’s not.
But yeah in crazy U.S. you would probably get a child porn charge and lifelong sexual offender status if that innocent pic was found on your computer. Never mind that it’s harmless and taken by a famous photographer.
Oh boy, comment was a reply to anothers complaining that seems to have disappeared now…(?) never mind! I down rank myself.
this is not the USSR. On the penultimate count bottle of beer Baltika. It began producing beer after the USSR ceased to exist. Most likely this is the end of the 90s.
Nice doberman!
what USSR? man on second photo from down with bottle of beer Baltika. it’s Russian beer, not Soviet.
all photos PHOTOSHOP!
yeah thats wierd, i was noticed it too, maybe someone can explaine?
btw i drink a lot of baltika every day
That great dane is beautiful. These are average people in their bathing suits, so what is big deal?
Great pictures, very humanizing. Americans never saw such ordinary photos of Soviet people during the cold war. Some of them could easily be mistaken for Americans of the time. We are all very much the same one a basic level. BTW gotta love the bathing suits! Wonder when these were actually taken? I remember when we used to wear stuff like that too (what we’re we thinking).
This isn’t nudity, it is just people in bathing suits.
Huh, i have no idea why the benign and positive comment i left seems to have been deleted by English Russia. How silly, but whatever, that’s English Russia for you.
Hirsh your “humanizing” comment might just be forgotten by the doodad or whatsit, actually its technically called a thingamajig and sometimes it just does not load all the comments on. Not deleted only forgotten ?
Yeah, odd, but that’s just the nature of English Russia i guess. Of course it after reading around a bit it looks like these photos are a bit more recent then the ’80s like i thought, and not quite what the seem subjectwise. But my point is we never used to see images of Soviets in everyday life. What Soviet life was like was an enigma to to us. BTW i’ve noticed recently that i have to refresh the pages here a few times to see the latest, but i had already done that before i commented. I was just puzzled, The comment went live then seemed to disappear, now it’s back.
A rather interesting take on Nikolay Bakharev’s photography by a curator, writer, and former model to him, and some insight into what these photos really are. These photos were never intended for public exhibition nor did those photographed have any say in that becoming the case. Much more to read about them here. http://www.artmargins.com/index.php/exhibitions/175-amateurs-and-lovers
These people are not from around here, I can tell that…….. Most of the people in my town are over weight.
I have always admired the total lack of sexual repression in Russians. Men still wear speedos without shame!
We’ve been conned!
Is it OK to feel scared?
Put on clothes and start working!
Everybody is very thin, though. You’re less likely to see that these days.
I thought in the old USSR only criminals had tattoos?
