Collecting Cotton In Uzbekistan

It’s high time for cotton crop. Uzbekistan fields that are stretching kilometers away are totally covered with cotton wool. Let’s see how the field is cleared.

Cotton pieces are covering the bushes.

Before a cotton crop supply of fields with water is stopped. The cotton plants are dried out.

Cotton is hidden in green boxes like that. By the way, it is prohibited to take pictures of some cotton field clearing as the fields belong to private property.

But the real reason is that children labor is actively used in field clearing. They spend 2 weeks a year in the fields and miss classes at school.

Women cover their faces with cloth in order to inhale less dust and save themselves from the sun.

USSR was a rich country, and Uzbekistan are now a poor country. People are cheaper than diesel fuel and a tractor. Now and in Russia as it is better to hire migrant workers from Central Asia than the tractor.
