Shoe Business in the Ukrainian Way

Lately, a huge pile of absolutely new shoes has been found in the forest on the outskirts of Kiev. Who is that wasteful person who threw them out? Let’s find out.

Have you ever seen so many women’s shoes piled on the ground?

    All models are absolutely new.

All are made of different material.

All shoes are labeled, still you won’t be able to find a single pair of them (only the right or the left shoe).

A lot of leather shoes. Pay attention to the label. It says 35.44 UAH (about $5). Don’t be surprised. This is the wholesale price of leather shoes at which stores buy them at warehouses. Then all depends on the imagination and appetites of a seller – someone sells them for 300 UAH (about $40), and someone – for 1000 UAH (about $120).

    Leather indeed.

What is interesting is that all shoes have little holes in soles apparently made on purpose.

Some of them are cut or torn at the seam.

The girl working in this field gives an adequate explanation to all this.

When a store orders the new line of footwear, the samples are delivered to the office six months before the beginning of the season (i.e. winter shoes come in summer, summer shoes – in winter). In order not to have shoes cleared by the customs, a supplier sends only one holed shoe instead of a pair. Only in this case it’s considered a sample.

Having been delivered to the office of the store, the samples are thoroughly examined and, if it’s necessary, improved. After that they are exhibited in a special hall of the office where different purchasers (other stores and small entrepreneurs) come every day during 3-4 months, choose the shoes they need and agree contracts. Eventually, the store knows how many shoes it should order.

After that the already useless samples must be sent for recycling which must held according to all rules and regulations (with the participation of firefighters and other organizations). Of course, it’s not free…

So, in our case everything is quite clear. Somebody decided to save money and dump all the samples in the forest. Actually, it’s a matter for the court, the organization which did this may be fined. And to find it is not so difficult. It doesn’t seem that there are a lot of serious wholesalers of shoes in the Ukraine…

    31.44 UAH (about $4).

I’d imagine that it was more likely to be customs and excise that dumped them, that happens to disallowed items entering the UK. Although generally they’re burned.

      A. Bunka here. Maybe, Imelda Marcos lost a foot? And having no reason for the other half of the pair, and in an attempt to make some room for new shoe{s}, she dumped them there.
Or, maybe, it was Heather Mills McCartney’s doing?

Shameful. They should have been donated to amputees.

Well i think those are shoes which were worn by window mannequins – thats why the shoes are punctured at the sole

Single shoes with the sticker labels. Looks like a salesman dumped a pile of old samples.

There is an “old” trick for smuggling shoes from China and avoiding import duties. First send a batch of left shoes as samples and after a month send the right shoes for sampling too. So somebody has to match the pairs and sell them, usually at flea markets.

Some you are not using common sense obviously they cant have been shoes used for display on mannequins or there would be matching pairs so that possibility is out. They also cant be from salesmen because why display a shoe with a hole in it?They are not smuggled shoes either if they where why destroy them and not wait for matching sets?

They are obviously sample shoes used by teams that select what a given store is going to sell in that case they only really need a shoe not a set and then after they are done with them they put a hole in them and deface them in other ways so that they can not be re sold.

This would be a good torture in Hell for a woman who loved shoes during her life. Her punishment would be to find giant piles like this sometimes, get excited and realize there is only one of each! (I would be a cruel demon, lol.)
