The Biggest Champagne Glass In The World

Champagne Birthday was celebrated on August 6 in Balaklava. Spectators got a chance to participate in champagne tasting on the bay near the sea, view the beauty contest, exhibition of live figures, concert of a Ukrainian rock group, and setting world record for the Guiness Book of Records. A specially made glass that was 1.5 meters long was filled with champagne taken from 75 bottles. The previous record was hit twice.

The glass is put on a special platform and covered with cloth. One of the main conditions according to which it must repeat the outlines of a standard champagne glass is fulfilled.

The second condition stated affordability of the drink. In this case wine produced in 2009 was used.

This person arrived from England to fix the record.

Professional barmen put the bottles on special stands.

They check the integrity and wipe the bottles.

Two similar stands need to be filled to set the record.

The Guiness representative is going to read the rules from the stage.

The glass is freed from the cloth.

The first bottle is opened to check the volume and quality of champagne.

Champagne is poured into the measuring container. There are 750 ml in it.

The main judge will be observing the ceremony standing aside with a small glass of champagne.

    Counting the bottles.

20 000 spectators are observing how the glass is filled by barmen.

Each barman opened 38 champagne bottles during 20 minutes.

    Final bottle.

    The judge fixes the record.

I think these kinds of things are silly. Biggest hamburger, etc….

So, they make this huge glass. OK< put it in the record book. But no, they have to fill it with champagne, then apparently, they either dump it out, or dish it BACK out into other glasses so they can give now FLAT champagne to people watching.

      What a waste.

This sparkling wine was poured into the glasses and people drank it.
P.S. Balaklava is in Ukraine, not Russia.
