Assembling A Sports Complex In Ukraine

Posted on July 1, 2011 by kulichik

The National sports complex Olympisky in Kiev, Ukraine is a universal construction and the major place holding football matches of the Ukrainian national team. It is the major sports ground in Ukraine and one of the largest stadiums in Europe. The pictures depicting different stages of cable roof system rising are presented below.

After lifting the cable roof system it is necessary to fix the cables using supporting irons. Right now they are temporarily supported with steel wire ropes.

A guy anchor will be fixed under each ring beam.

It is not easy to make an anchor fit the beam as it is heavy enough. The anchors are shifted with the help of hoisting units.

Now the anchor and the beam are tied together.

It is much more difficult to handle underlying guy cables. Unlike the upper ones which are shifted to the columns during the main lifting procedure, the lower cables are first moved to the lower ring.  Adapters get fixed and only then  the cables are stretched. Besides, lower adapters can’t be moved in one round.

The steel wire rope is pulled up with a special machine that operates on gasoline. The method is rather convenient as you don’t have to do it manually.

Another appliance is used to further shifting of lower cables to lower rings.

In the process of cable roof system lifting the lower adapters are slowly tightened up towards the lower ring.

There was a need in preliminary shifting of adapters.

The green cylinder is a hydraulic cell.

The adapter is set in place.

It is aligned to the lower ring.

The cells are fixed. It is time to start the stretching.

A retractable rod is pressed against the screw.

When cells are at work the rod is separated from the screw and the adapter is shifted downwards to the lower ring. Before reaching the initial position another screw is pressed against the adapter making it retain its former position. The cell is then set in place, the screw is fixed and the process gets repeated.

The appliance enables simultaneous control of all the cells available.

    The guy cables are stretched.

It is high time to fix the anchors to the lower ring.

The hand jack is used for the purpose.

    Dismantling of lifting screws.

    The cable roof system itself.

This looks like it’s a real pain in the ass to set up.
