The Flight to the Worlds Best Airport

Posted on June 15, 2011 by team

The pictures of an unforgettable flight on the AN-24 from Krasnoyarsk to Kodinsky and its local airport, the most touching of all you have ever seen!

The beautiful AN-24 – a passenger turboprop aircraft designed for short and medium haul trips.

The flight is quite comfortable – it doesn’t shake and your ears don’t get blocked.

Its flying distance is 3000 km. The speed – 490 km/h. The maximum takeoff weight – 21 tons.

The mode of sucking in clouds.

    A cockpit.

At some point, pilots came out to make the picture of the whole cockpit.

The panorama of a turboprop engine.

    The ordinary taiga.

    The taiga on fire.

There is nothing more permanent than temporary. The wooden building of Kodinsky airport, built in 1986 as a temporary version, still operates.

“The place for smoking. Smoking kills.”

    The waiting room.

    The reception.

The stairs to the control room.

    The waiting room before boarding.

    The AN-24 and the airdrome.

There isn’t enough room for the passengers so they have to wait outdoors.

The building is not yet spoiled with plastic windows.

Preflight preparation. Some passengers clean their windows to have the best view.

    The Angara River.

The view of the Boguchanskaya HPP.

    Location: Kodinsky

It is always a good feeling when the pilots leave the cockpit so a tourist can snap a photo.

I wonder how much is the ticket. Is it affordable for an average Russian?

Cleaning the windows themselves? Can you imagine a passenger walking to plane’s window in maybe… New York City? The world would STOP with everyone freaking out, screaming “Terr0rz1st!!!1!!”

The plane appears to be on the ground when that empty cockpit picture was taken, cant say that for sure, except that all avionics appear to be turned off.

One of the best things about travelling the lesser flown airlines and routes is the peace and tranquillity you have in the smaller airports, and freedom, mustn’t forget the freedom. Sadly there are none like this where I live now.

… a place still untouched by the globalization… AN-24 commercial plane and flight by sight I saw only in Venezuela. Save those pictures because in 10 – 20 years we will miss it!
