6 Testing New Military Equipment

Testing New Military Equipment

The 21st Research Institute of the Ministry of Defence is located in Bronnitsy Town near Moscow and specializes in testing military equipment. Lately, it has organized a colorful show on its military training ground where a lot of new vehicles have been tested.

The training ground of the Research Institute will soon celebrate the half-century anniversary. Some time ago, it was actively used – the Soviet Union constantly invented new kinds of military equipment. But in the 90s, a part of it was abandoned and now is visited only by stalkers. The other part is closed for the public, because most of the time there reigns the regime of military secrets.

Once everything was prepared, the show began.

Cars rolled down and climbed the steep hills, overcame an obstacle course at full speed, flew through the “pool” with marsh water… Well, watch yourselves.

The new troops of new Russia.

First, there were small cars, then bigger and at last very huge.

“Cars in shoulder straps are in the service of the Motherland”.

A graphic illustration of how much dust there was on the training ground.

Sometimes it was diluted with the sprays of dirty water.

This two-piece tracked all-terrain vehicle with the “muzzle” of the KAMAZ is unlikely to be familiar to your eyes. It’s the TTM 4901 PS.

Despite the fact that this beautiful vehicle looks clumsy and reaches the maximum speed of only 45 km/h, it can crawl, climb and swim almost anywhere.

And this is its “elder brother”, the Vityaz (“Knight”) which resembles a huge white caterpillar or hippopotamus.

It was accompanied by the APC which arose no interest among the public though.

As for the “caterpillar”, it surprised everyone when at full speed jumped out of the water and climbed a fairly steep hill.

Then it moved to the training ground and made a couple of laps, showing that it really doesn’t care what surface to move on.

The “Vityaz” can accommodate five thin people and a driver. The rest of the space is occupied by the engine and the cargo compartment.

The cabin is rather small, but the passengers, at least,  can pop out of the hatch and smoke.

The KA-52 circling above the water.

Made a steep turn and flew away.

Another floating-terrain vehicle is called “Trekol”.

It floats well but still can’t force a crossing over the water. Only if the wind blows in its back.

Some more pictures from the training ground.

The static exhibition was rather boring…

ZiL is still alive and even produces some cars. Unfortunately, they didn’t participate in the show, just stood on the sidelines.

How do you think what is wrong with these UAZ cars?

They are twice as wider as the normal ones.

For the army alone can do. Square design. Iron in bulk. Wheels for more. Motors for engorgement. And for the citizen or the appearance of fine draw, no air conditioning or automatic transmission can not be done.

Of course this is a scripted public exhibition. The real work done here isn’t so smooth and impressive all the time.

More targets for drones and Apachees

Not as long as Mr Obama is in power, and perhaps for longer than that. Russian and American soldiers are comrades-in-arms (against China).
