    Severe Arctic Murmansk

    11
Posted on February 15, 2011 by CJ

    View from the sea.

The railroad is of great importance as well: despite the developed port a part of goods get delivered by trains.

Talking about climate, Murmansk is not a usual Northern city, because of the Gulf Stream the temperatures are abnormally high in winter: −10 −12 °C in February.

I would love to visit the city someday. I hear there is a seasonal overseas voyage from Churchill Manitoba to Murmansk.

I love the statue of the soldier standing watch over the city. I am glad he is wearing a cape because he can pull it closed in front to keep the cold winter wind from blowing onto his testicles.

Great photos, but I think that is Navy carrier (Admiral Kuznetzov?), not cruiser.
