    Remote Life In Taymyr

    9
Posted on February 10, 2011 by CJ

People don’t care of a luxurious Mercedes here.

“300 years of Dudinka” (a city in Taymyr)

    Courtyard sculpture.

    No jokes here.

Ordinary garage in taymyr, a snowmobile instead of a car.

    Monument to snowmobile.

Just kidding, a regular parking place.

This car wishes it had tracks instead of wheels.

These steel workers have many things to do even at night.

    Sinister crane construction.

    Northern church.

    Snowy church figure.

    Some superalarm.

    New Year in the harbor.

    Crane monster.

    Boats quietly spend winter.

    One more parked snowmobile.

Guys clear a roof of the snow.

It is so dense that they slice it in the form of a cube and throw off the roof.

    “Peace to the nations”

That’s how a Northern fitness center looks like.

Taymyr romance – “City where the hearts moor”

    “Toilet”

    “Bus station”

    Fancy some racing?

    A large icebraker at work.

    Icebraker “Taymyr”

    Bye-bye, North!

That’s a pretty impressive museum for such an isolated or remote location. The displays seem to be well-lit and presented in a professional manner.

I wonder if the port was ever used to deliver war supplies from the west during WWII for some of the factories built further south but east of the Urals. Maybe it’s too far east.

I also liked the snowmobile “monument.” Good sense of humor by someone.

I was so relieved to find that that dog wasn’t real.

Me too! I saw that dog’s big eyes and snout and wondered what sort of genetic experiment the Soviets had been up to in the region. . . I’d hate to run into that dog at night.

Ditto that. I thought it was a good looking dog, but really creepy for some reason.

Those cranes look like they’re about ready to get up and walk away.

I’m sure this is a nice place if you’re used to it. But dang, that’s one heck of a lot of snow!
