    Kirovsk And Its Landscapes

    11
Posted on January 22, 2011 by CJ

Kirovsk lies at the bottom of the Hibin Mountains, the hugest mountain range in the Kolsky peninsula. Kirovsk is a popular Russian mountain skiing centre, but the condition of some elevators seems to tell the opposite… In any case views of the city and landscapes shot from the 1075-meter-height Aikuaivenchorr mountain won’t leave anybody indifferent!

    The chairlift was unfortunately nonoperating…

The nebulosity was also killing all the hopes for beautiful landscapes…

On the top it was traditionally cold and windy.

Suddenly the cloud disappeared and we could see Kirovsk…

Kirovsk is actually a small and cosy town with 30.000 citizens.

    Everything promised a picturesque sunset…

…but in 16 minutes everything looked like this again.

The “Big Budjavr” skiing complex’s slope.

But sometimes the visibility was becoming better…

So much snow and ice! Did you wear protective clothing around your testicles?

Beautiful views, but this area is another that is heavily toxically polluted from minerals processings. You would not want to live here for long.

This village appears industrialistic, sharp, ridged and quite uninviting, (there are no cute little Russian homes with fancy woodwork and lots of color) but the surrounding mountains are absolutely beautiful.

It’s sad to hear it’s not a healthy environment to live in.

And WTF, that train station looks beautiful, why was it abandoned like that? That really sux.

Great photos, thanks for sharing them.
