This Beautiful church is a symbol of all that was wrong with the revolution. This church is a product of Russian culture. If this church had been in Moscow, or St. Petersburg, it may have been blown up like so many others.
It was in light of these extreme actions of the bolsheviks that the west turned against them. What was the west supposed to do? Hadn’t the bolsheviks murdered the Czar and his in family in cold blood, without even the decency of a show trial? As the French had given Louis?
Do we need to mention the murder and exile of millions by the hero Lenin?
The fact is the USSR, and it’s siege mentality, labeled the Russians as: boorish, uncompromising, liars. This was your image worldwide, the only people who thought otherwise were blinded by idealogy.
Socialism was just a nice word for a state controlled economy. Just like in NAZI Germany. When the state controls the economy, it controls everything.
You can argue till doomsday, it dosen’t change this fact.

This and the other recent post about the Russian Orthodox church made me wonder: What were the Russians doing around the time of the Crusades? Did any notable individuals or groups of Russians join the other “Christian” forces in the Holy Land or the routes leading to it? I feel a little silly for not knowing the answer to that. I guess it’s my Western-focused education getting the best of me. If anyone knows any good information sources related to my question, please tell me.
The German and Swedish catholics had crusades against the Russian East Orthodox.
