We have already written about this gorgeous vehicle, but there is another big collection of photos from outside and inside "Lenin". We just have to show you them today.
F. Bunker here.
those vintage control panels & gear are awesome!
I totally agree with you Musa
Nice. I wondered what happened to the Lenin. Definitely a huge technological step forward in its day.
‘scottie here captain we are ready to start the test but I don’t like the idea of shutting down the cooling pumps when the reactor is running at 115%”.
Neato! Although I’d appreciate translations to English for some of the writing, I don’t know Russian.
I have not seeing any computers on board….
What a complex machine. Quite incredible. This is a great set of photos. Thanks for sharing.
they navigate with a compass
Great photos of a great ship named after a great lawyer and politician which opened old Russia for a new era of the people.
The absence of computers may reflect this ship left active service in season 1988/1989 after 30 seasons of complex and impressive polar services. The American SAVANNAH(1962), Japanese MUTSU(1970) and OTTO HAHN(1968) were not economically successful ships at all and fast turned to laid-up ships in sad shapes, OTTO HAHN lost her atomic reactor by the way due to bad economy. But the Russians MADE IT SUCCESSFUL! may they conserve this magnificent as museum ship forever, as she was a true conqueror and revolutionary first atomic driven ship in the world fleet! Soon I guess she will be joined by the now retired ARKTIKA which was sent to pension 2008 after 33 years of service, also built in Leningrad in 1971-1975. Her last sisterships are the famous Arctic passenger cruise ships “JAMAL” and “50 LET POBEDY”.
Beautiful! Thanks!
~Into the ice-breaker Lenin there are three reactors, one went wrong in 1967. It was concreted over and it was thrown in into the sea at Novaja Zemlja. They replaced the rest of Lenin reactors then. The radiation protection was disarmed from him when an oozing dot was being looked for on the reactor.Wikipédia writes it)
