Different Sides of St. Petersburg

Posted on November 16, 2010 by team

Here is Shkapin Street. At the beginning of XXI century, Germans were shooting here a film about the World War II. But these are not consequences of a warfare. About 5 years ago, local authorities decided to build here a big commercial and entertainment centre. The street was almost totally demolished, but there is no trade center there till now.

The film mentioned is “Der Untergang” about the last days of the Third Reich. As Berlin was bombed and unrecognisably rebuild, St. Petersburg was the best second choice to shoot a film playing in Berlin in April 1945. If you look carefully, you can recognise some parts of St Petersburg in the film.
