Minsk is the most beautiful city I’ve ever been to. Seeing these pictures bring back memories, and make me miss it even more.

This is a perfect example of the boring neo-soviet architecture. Except for a few old buildings built in late 19th/early 20th century, the rest of the city is filled with boring, uninspiring boxy soviet-style apartment buildings. Step out of the city center, and it will be very hard to tell whether you’re in Rostov or Volgograd or Minsk. What you see on the pictures is probably the best there is to see in Minsk.

What do you expect when most soviet cities were completely razed during the war? If you are looking for eiffel towers or brandeburg gates, then go further west. I love this city too much for you to make such blatantly ignorant comments. Some of us like this type of architecture. :)

i would like to preserve the communist styled economy and see how it works. i think the communism is now freedom from any threat since we don’t have any cold war. i just am afraid that the mad countries (like US) will try to destroy its system. i would prefer to leave it as it is and see the enjoyable life of people in a pure communism country. pleas don’t try to throw any fraud to this country and please don’t boycott it and see its development. in the soviet time, communism was no chance to put into practice because the money is heavily invested on military to protect the threat from the US. right now, we don’t have that kind of things. so let see how it goes.

Keep your Soviet system. It will fail no matter what. I promise you, the USA has no intention of invasion. It is so easy to use the USA as a scapegoat for the failures of the great Soviet Empire. However, it was the Soviets that were imprisoning and killing millions. That wasn’t the west. No system can work if the government has to slaughter all those that disagree with it. Communism is a pipe dream. Unless you live in a Star Trek episode it will never work.

Amazing pictures. What a beautiful sight to see. What some people don’t understand is that the USA is headed towards communism. As far as I am concerned at this point in time living out my days in Russia looks better and better as time goes by. Either way there are pro’s and con’s to everyone’s view. Which is nice about the USA people can express themselves. Or at least at this point in time they can. Thanks for the pictures very much…
